Cultivating crops on La May Farm (link) in Thach That and To Chim Farm in Thai Binh, Maya is self-sufficient in a majority of fruit and vegetables provided to students and teachers at school. Maya also raise pigs, chickens, and some freshwater fish on the farm.
The kinds of food which Maya hasn’t been able to produce would be imported from prestigious and public sources supplying fresh ingredients and fruit conforming to VietGap standards.
Elements of student meals at Maya are as follows:
(1) Breakfast: 1 dish of watery food, 1 dish of solid food. Besides, the students could drink pasteurized cow’s milk if desired.
(2) Mid-morning fruit: prepared and stored in each fridge of every classroom and at students’ disposal.
(3) Lunch: 5 dishes of the students’ choice, which are comprised of protein from two-legged or four-legged animals; protein from marine animals; green vegetables; root vegetables; whole-grain rice; and non-rice starch.
(4) Afternoon snack: 1 dish of snack and a glass of juice or nut milk.
(Parents could review nutrition program commitments in the Parents’ Handbook issued by Maya Elementary and Secondary School)
Maya would be greatly delighted to prepare some fragrant tea cultivated from the tea plant in the garden to warmly welcome parents and children to visit.
